The ECO4 and Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) are government backed programmes, funded by energy suppliers, to help households access free energy-efficiency upgrades like boiler replacements and insulation.
We offer a hassle-free way to check your options and get connected to trusted, accredited installers.
These schemes are designed to support households that would benefit most from energy-efficient upgrades. If any of the below applies, you could qualify and we’ll check for you, free of charge.
If your boiler is 15 years or older, you may be eligible for a fully funded replacement.
Households earning under £31,000 a year, or receiving qualifying benefits.
If someone in your home has a condition made worse by the cold, such as respiratory or mobility issues.
Homes that are hard to heat or poorly insulated are likely to meet the criteria for funded upgrades.
We don’t install boilers or sell upgrades. Our role is to give free, straightforward advice and connect you with trusted installers if you’re eligible for support through schemes like ECO4 or GBIS.
No pressure. No sales talk. Just honest guidance from a team that understands both local needs and national funding.
If you qualify, we’ll help you take the next step at no cost.
We believe in keeping things simple, honest and helpful. But don’t just take our word for it.
Hear from one of the households we’ve supported through the ECO4 grant. From the first conversation to being matched with a trusted installer, we’re here to make the process easy.
Real people. Real results.
The ECO4 grant is a government-backed scheme that helps eligible households access energy-efficient upgrades such as free boiler replacements, insulation and heating improvements. It’s part of the UK’s plan to reduce carbon emissions and support low-income or vulnerable households.
You may qualify if your boiler is over 15 years old, your home is hard to heat, or you receive certain benefits. Households with a combined income under £31,000 or with someone suffering from a health condition linked to cold living conditions may also be eligible under ECO4 Flex rules.
The incentives, rebates and finance options currently available in the UK include:
Energy Company Obligation (ECO4)
ECO4 is designed to reduce heating costs and improve energy efficiency in domestic settings, specifically targeting low-income and vulnerable households. By upgrading homes to be more energy-efficient, the scheme aids in reducing carbon emissions and fighting fuel poverty.
Home Upgrade Grant (HUG)
The Home Upgrade Grant (Phase 2) provides no-cost energy-efficient improvements for homeowners who find it difficult to afford their heating bills and maintain a warm home in winter. These improvements, offered at no charge, are designed to help residents warm their homes more effectively, reduce energy use, and control heating costs.
Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme helps subsidise the cost of replacing old fossil fuel heating systems with more sustainable alternatives like heat pumps or biomass boilers. These fossil fuel systems include those powered by oil, gas, electricity, or LPG (liquefied petroleum gas).
The Smart Export Guarantee (SEG)
The Smart Export Guarantee rewards individuals or businesses for exporting surplus electricity generated from renewable sources back to the National Grid. It applies to various renewable technologies, including solar panels, wind turbines, micro-CHP, hydro, and anaerobic digestion to boost the use of renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions.
No. If you’re approved for funding, your boiler replacement or insulation upgrade is fully funded. There are no repayments or hidden costs.
Once we’ve confirmed your eligibility, the turnaround can be quick. We’ll guide you through each step and put you in touch with a reliable local installer who will arrange a survey and installation timeline.
Yes, tenants can apply with permission from their landlord. We can help with that too and explain what’s required.
Both schemes aim to improve energy efficiency in UK homes. ECO4 focuses on comprehensive improvements for lower-income households, while GBIS offers insulation support for a broader range of properties, including homes in council tax bands A to D.
