The Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 is a program supported by the Government and managed by local authorities, targeting homes without gas heating. This initiative provides no-cost energy-efficient improvements for homeowners who find it difficult to afford their heating bills and maintain a warm home in winter. These improvements, offered at no charge, are designed to help residents warm their homes more effectively, reduce energy use, and control heating costs.
Eligibility extends to homeowners, tenants, and landlords with tenants. It’s important to note that in rental situations, both the tenant and the landlord must agree before any improvements are made.*
Are You Eligible?
To qualify for the Home Upgrade Grant Phase 2 (HUG2), applicants must be:
- Residents of homes not connected to mains gas, using alternative heating sources.
AND
- Part of a household with an annual income under £36,000 or receiving specific income-related benefits, or living in a designated deprivation area, verified by your postcode.
AND
- Living in a home that is considered inefficient in terms of heating (energy ratings between D and G), as determined by your Energy Performance Certificate (EPC). If you don’t have an EPC, the program provides an assessment at no cost.
What improvements can I receive?
The program can provide:
- Insulation and ventilation improvements to enhance winter warmth and reduce heating costs.
- Transition to eco-friendly heating systems, excluding gas or oil boilers.
- Installation of advanced heating controls.
- Energy-efficient water heating solutions.
- Solar PV systems to lower electricity bills.
- Solar water heating to reduce heating costs.
A detailed property survey will outline all the potential improvements for your property.
Who funds and implements these improvements?
The improvements are funded by the Government and coordinated by the Greater South East Net Zero Hub and local authorities. A specialist company, selected by us, will manage and implement the energy improvements in your home.
